Looks a lot like a combo of a BMW 7 and new 5 interior : incl similar vents, squared off and separate high dash mounted nav screen , lower half of center console sloping away from occupants . Fairly conventional luxury car layout.
OTOH, the architecture of the Vision GST's center console unvieled at Detroit this week is very different from any current German car , almost looks like a Bang & Olafsen upright CD/Stereo main unit :

I cant say I am too impressed about the look of it so far cause it does look too seven series-ish along with the new fiver. But no matter what I am sure the outside is gonna be killer.

Their leaning toward the BMW look as you can tell. Sickening, yes, yes it is. I think they are going to make things 100x more confusing...

A bucket on wheels
they have taken a beautiful car and ruined it
transmission behind the steering wheel ala mini van? HOW DARE THEY?
I-drive with a screen bigger then the windshield. horrifying.
keep it simple mercedes, too much technology screwed you guys over in the past IS stupid asr braking crap. focus on quality over technology. But i must say, no matter how hard mercedes tries, they can never make a car uglier then the 7 series. and dont flame cuz i like bmw's
JUST NOT THE NEW ONES

2003 S430 4matic, 1966 230 SL, 2002 911 Turbo, 2003 Z71 Suburban, 2003 Range Rover , 2001 BMW 330Ci
I owned two 740's and an Audi A8L, and now an S430 4matic. If Mercedes goes with an interior design similar to the one shown by autospies, they will undoubtedly loose and alienate a lot of customers as experienced by BMW with their 7 series. I cannot and will not live with a shifter on the steering column!! Just my 2 cents worth!

If the new S is like that I wont ever buy a MB product again. That is horrible it looks identical to the 7 series interior but worse even when its finished.
The shifter mounted by the wheel like a pick up truck or buick its horrible.

Somebody should write a letter to MB Headquarters letting them know they are screwing themselves over. I am really scared to see how this is going to come out.

I like this interior. Actually, I think 7 ss has the best interior for my taste, and if S will have something similar. then certainly I will consider it to buy.

but yet I wonder, cause that is supposed to be the steering wheel in the next gen ML and they were sayin the ML and S will have identical steering wheels.

but if following some "traditional" styling, i don't think they would go to the steering mounted shifter style, just not in MB's bin, IMO.
But we'll see....should probably be posted in a month or two on websites if it's a 2005 model? or is it coming out later?

if you guys read the article attached to that pic, it exaplins everything...
according to the article, that picture is real, and yes, it does have the idrive type of thing, that steering wheel, and the steering column shifter, but they also said it looks amazing in real life (like a mini maybach ) ---its a prety good and informative article

Just hope it's not too much like the 7 series.

That article is pretty old though, and thats just a prototype. When do you guys think we will see pics confirming what the new W221 is going to look like?
