06 Brake Rotor Question

Hi all,

I have a 2006 S500 RWD w/AMG sport package (not an AMG).
It still has the original brakes on it with 80k miles on the car.

It was still under extended warranty until this year so it has been serviced only at the MB dealer so far.
The last time I was in they told me the next service I would most likely need to have the brakes done as the rotors were down to almost the minimum.

I called the parts department today to get a price on the parts as I figured I would just do this one myself.

$1,100 for each front rotor
$65 for each rear rotor
$115 for front pads
$70 for rear pads
$7 each for 2 sensors.

Does that front rotor price sound correct?
I questioned the guy 3 times to make sure he had it right.
That seems crazy overpriced for a rotor even for a stealer...
I know it is cross-drilled in the front but $1,100 each?
All the other parts prices sound about right to me.

2006 S65 AMG
i know the rotors for the s65 are even more than that. I found a set for the s600 for all 4 rotors with ceramic pads for $555 shipped on amazon. Also found a place where just the fronts were $345 for both rotors. Don't imagine these are exactly oem, but there are cheaper alternatives to the oem stealership stuff. I have not purchased any of these. I am just lurking at this point. Going to pick up my 2005 s600 with 54k miles on it this saturday. I am excited.

I question it since these Brembo's are pretty much the same thing or better and only $112 each.

Anyone with experience with these things have any insight or advice?
I don't mind paying for a good product I just don't want to be ripped off.

You don't mention if your S500 is RwD of AWD. AWD is more expensive.

I am a strong believer in Wagner brake parts (a Federal-Mogul firm)

RQD front brake rotors $84 at RockAuto,$132 for AWD front rotors

Sorry, it is RWD. (I edited original post)

I definitely see lots of options around the web for matching rotors and really none of them even the really high performance ones come anywhere near $1,100 each.
Most are somewhere between $100 and $400.

My main question I guess is are they just trying to rip me off?

$2200 for just 2 front rotors is about the same cost as an engine for a Toyota truck.
Something just seems really off with the price they gave me.

Thanks, great options there.

Anyone have any insight as to why dealer is telling me $1,100 EACH for front rotors?
They used my VIN for part verification so I don't know how they could have messed it up.

That price for the front rotors is totally ridiculous for a non-AMG car. I spent less than a thousand dollars for rotors and pads all around. If you want dust free wheels use Akebono pads. BTW, where are you located. I want to make sure I never go near that dealer.

Two things. Either they messed up or they are taking advantage of you. Front rotors for your car cost $110 each.
