I went with the Dension Gateway 500S BT.
Tie into fiber optic ring and gives AUX, USB (Can play music files from stick), Blue Tooth and Hands Free Phone integration. If I had an IPod, you can get a cable or dock and have direct control.

On my phone, it will not sync the phone contacts.

Dension makes several models with fewer options at a lower price, so think about what you need and then buy it once.

Mercedes made two bluetooth adapters for the built-in armrest phone cradle, an option on 2005 models for $1450 that included a Mercedes phone. They are described here: http://www.mercedes-benz-mobile.com/...sa/index2.html
Download the user manual and pairing guide if you buy an adapter, but the compatible phone list is obsolete.
I bought the sleeker "silver" model (B67875878) on eBay for my 2005 S500 in 2011, about a year after I bought the car, for around $200 (half what my local Mercedes dealer wanted). The adapter pairs with any bluetooth phone, and lets you answer, etc. through the radio. I haven't tried calling out, storing phone numbers, etc. with it because I really don't like talking on the phone while I'm driving.

Why is B67875878 so much cheaper than B67875856 ?

I didn't know the B67875856 was more expensive. I checked eBay for the B67875878 and saw a wide range of prices, mostly lower than what I paid several years ago.
