Replacing S500
I have a 2002 S500. Over the weekend I got in an accident and hit the rear driver's side on a jersey barrier. They are saying it could be a total loss.
My question is what is of comparable size to the S500? I'm 6' 4" (193 cm) and I have 2 kids and we all fit without any issues so I don't want anything smaller. Is the S430 the same size but just a smaller engine? Is there a C class or E class that would be around the same size?
I appreciate any info you can give me.

Virtually every W220 S-class is the same size body. There is a short-wheelbase version with a little less foot room for the rear seat passengers, but those aren't common in the USA.
The S500 is a slightly larger engine (duh!) and a slightly higher level of standard equipment - but some S430 cars have a lot of options.
AFAIK, all C-class and E-class cars are smaller...

There are small gains for each model year newer. The 2003 is the first "facelifted" W220, with bigger Command screen, and is the only year with an aux input jack in the glovebox.
The 2004 has the new Canbus system and the DVD-based nav system.
The 2005 is the most-debugged W220, and is reportedly the easiest to add a car phone.

With some luck, I found a 2003 S500 not too far from me and at a great price. I'm working with the seller on this now so hopefully we will be able to work together and I'll have a "new" S500 to take over for my previous one.
