New Brakes On 2000 S430
Hey Everyone,
Looks like I am going to have to replace the rotors and pads on my S430... I was thinking that I might as well go big with an upgrade while I am at it...
Any suggestions? I've got 20s, AMG kit and it's pretty low so custom brakes won't look out of place.
Anyway, I am wondering if there is just a kit I can order and slap on.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Not sure if AMG brakes are any different/better but maybe them? I know Brembo is excellent at making braking components. Question, you lowered your car right? Did you use the rb tech kit? I've got 20s as well and purchased the rb tech lowering kit. Did you incur any problems like rubbing or anything? Do you know how much you lowered it in the front/rear? Thanks

Thanks-
Yeah, I looked at the Brembos... But for $7k, I might just go pick up a new lease on an SL.
You know, I went to RB Tech for the kit along with some other work - and they didn't even put it on! haha I thought it looked about the same, but was in a rush.
So I just did it myself. The back adjusts with just 2 #10 Metric wrenches... Very Easy.
The front, you just need to basically put washers on the adjustment rod, the problem is that the bolt is not long enough to really get it down there. So I grinded off the short bolt the have in there and put longer bolts, and now it sits about 1/2 inch over the tires all the way around.
But I could easy tuck down to the rims if I was so inclined.
I was afraid of thrashing the original parts, so I went to MB and bought new ones before I tried this, they are still in the plastic, never needed them.
Once I figure out how to do it, it really took about 30 minutes to do the whole car. It takes a couple tries to get it the height you want.
Hope this helps,
Mike

Thanks ericktu,
I will check those out... Of course - now I am really thinking about stock replacements and just going down and picking up an SL... haha
By the way, where can I pick up the CL Style Grille? Not the Sport Grille, but the larger symbol?
Thanks again,
Mike
