Wheeeeee --> your best MPG?

Hey all,
Just finished trekin' back from LI in NY. Made the trip (194 mi) in 3 hours

I averaged about 61mph (was crusin' between 80-90 pretty much the whole way with fellow left lane travlers :p) and a MPG of 26. Best i've gotten yet and record timing too, lol.

Anyone gotten more than 26mpg on a long trip?

A side note, I don't understand how they can call this thing a gas guzzler :p it only took a little more than a quarter of a tank from LI back to Boston. Our ML has to re-fuel on the same trip in the past Now that thing is a gas guzzler!

You can't tell what kind of mileage you are going to get with one tank of fuel. How do you know you put back the same amount of gas you took out? Was the car level both times? Same temperature? Same pump?

You have to average several tanks to get a good idea about mileage. Take a long trip and that'll give you a better idea.

*sigh*

I got to 23 mpg once, I was tired, it was foggy, and 97% freeway.

Damn, I just cant pass 19mpg on regular days though, then I get bored and bring it down to 14mpg...

I think renntech needs to develop an Economy ECU...Sometimes I would contemplate paying for it....

Enjoy,
TB

That mpg sounds a bit too high, any exhaust mods?

Sure you don't have an S430 ?? Fuel economy ratings from MB S430 city/17mpg Highway/24mpg .S500 city/16mpg Highway/22mpg

I know these are EPA estimates, I have seen 23/mpg on my 2001 S500 but 26/mpg ?

Haha. I'm pretty sure I got a s500 unless the dealer rebadged it at delivery :p

Yeah, I mean it gets awsome gas mileage for such a big engine. And I do floor it at times, other times it's gentle to moderate acceleration.

Maybe I got a hybrid fuel efficient S500, LOL

S line has a computerized readout that measures ur MPG after restart of car and after last odometer reset, you dont have to do any calculations.

haha. true, but the trip usually take 3.5-4 hours. Just a record time for trip that we usually take a few times a year.
