Hello -
Pardon this intrusion however I have the opportunity to get an '02 S430 w/24k miles, heated seats and xenons and I was wondering what the difference is between this model year and the '03 & '04?
Does the car look about the same?

Body style is the same some of the differences are:
Clear headlamp lenses, Xenons are now BI-XENON
Updated tailamps, 4 white stripes instead of 2
Updated Turn Signal Mirrors
Different Stock Wheels
Updated Command
Material somewhat upgraded (seems the same to me)
Buttons on dash for shade, airmatic, parktronic changed.
Chrome strip runs with wood along the dash
Seat Cushions and headrests restlyed a little.
Thats all I can think of for now.

From what I've gathered from reading here the tail lamps can be swapped out to the same style as the '03/'04.
What is the approximate cost of these lamps and can a novice like myself do the switch or must I take it in to the dealer?

I beleive they are in the 300-500 dollar range, you can find them on ebay too. The headlamps can be updated too. I would suggest updating those too if you update the tailights, it just doesnt look quiet right to have one without the other. Plus with the new headlamps you get BI-XENON. The taillights should be easy to swap, from what ive read they are really quick

There's a 2002 S430 at a dealer in Scottsdale, AZ with 29K on it. It's a one owner, non-lease vehicle originally sold at this dealership. They have it listed for something over $56K. I suspect they don't expect to get that. Can you PM me or tell us what you think you'll have to pay for the car you're looking at and if it's a lease car or registered for personal use?
