2003 S600 Power Seat Problem
All - I've read several posts on power seat issues - but none exactly like what I am experiencing... Input/comments appreciated.
All aspects of the driver-side power seat seem to function properly, with the exception of the forward/back movement of the entire seat. When I press the button, I can hear the motor but only one side of the seat (the side closest to the door) begins to move. The seat twists just a bit (due to only 1 side moving) - and after a second or two the motor stops. Same action in either forward or reverse. I felt around underneath (it was dark last night) and didn't find anything wedged in the track - but in general the car is kept clean.
Thoughts/comments/questions welcome and appreciated.
Thanks

Placing my $10.00 bet that there is a penny, nickel, dime or quarter lodged in the seat track on the side next to the transmission tunnel.

That's a deal... and I will get under there tonight when I get home.
I'll be very surprised if that's the case. I would think it might prevent movement in 1 direction, but not both. I'll update tomorrow.
Any other ideas/suggestions from Forum members?
Thanks

Nothing in the track, but now ABC Fault!
Finally got under there today, and unfortunately couldn't find anything wedged in the track. It was unbelievably clean under there - not a nickel or even a French Fry. I am curious to know if there is only 1 motor/drive for the entire seat (for forward/backward movement on the track) or one for each side?
Unfortunately this is the least of my worries. I took it out for a spin and got the dreaded "ABC - Drive Carefully" light. Worse still, after parking the car the rear is sitting down. I also see what looks like hydraulic fluid under the center of the engine (though I first thought it could simply be condensation from the AC). I checked the fluid level in the ABC pump - it looked okay.
It looks like I'll need to take it to my INDY for accumulators/struts or whatever. Might as well have him pull the seat while he has the car...

The seat motors usually have a cable drive on both ends of the motor, leading to the gears that actually move the track. When this happens, it's normally a cable with the end snapped off. Simple fix if you can easily access it, I haven't personally pulled a seat on a W220 but it shouldn't be anything crazy. Check it out and see what let go.

Bill,
I have a black S600 drivers seat. If you want to come to Pillow and help me install (fairly easy), I would sell it to you at $225 installed. If I come to Long Island I can sell it installed for $375. Pillow is about 4-5 hours from Long Island, depending on time of day of travel.
Also- I can sell it to you uninstalled if you pickup from Newark Airport or Terrytown, NY for $225.

"... so she might have held the button too long after the seat stopped moving."
Since that is the exact procedure for resetting the seat travel, it is extremely unlikely to be the source of your problem. Does the W240 have fuses for the seat travel? Any possibility that the plug has fallen out of the seat connector? (They are visible under the seat.)
