Help!!!!! ESP module issues 2001 S500

So, I just found out that my ESP module is toast, and the repair shop is saying its 2800 just for a new one!!!!! I just got stationed in this area and don't know many junkyards, but EBAY says they have 2 for sale that are used for about 398. Please let me know if a used one can be programmed to my car, and if this is the best option because 3000 for a new one is really not possible. Also, I may need an accelerator sensor as well.

Would anyone happen to have any of the above mentioned items used?

Whoa...slow down...

How did the shop determine that the sensor and module are toast?

Sounds like a guy who doesn't know MB is throwing parts at the problem at your expense!

I would get a second opinion before letting this guy spend one more dollar...

This is the second shop saying the module is bad. They tested the harness and everything. So im kinda screwed, just looking for a cheaper alternative.

Yep. If you're new to Mercedes, be ready for a lot of sticker shock every time you need a new part. Most of the time, used is what you want. The cars seem in general reliable, but has a few well documented common issues. What took out your module? It didn't get wet, did it?
