Plus were already changed in this thing. We have about 2k miles on it since putting it on the road. Right now, the car is 99% good. Which is good enough for me right now.

Looks like the project is doing well. As another former 3kGT Vr4 owner, I am sure you remember the all Vr4's are $11k joke. I have found many parts for my s500 on eBay.

Absolutely incredible thread & build - wow!!!

You're a magician! And it looks like so much fun also (to some degree - if you enjoy what you do.)

Good for you! Nothing wrong with what you did, you are absolutely right in all your comments & reasoning, and I certainly would have done the same thing as you if I had the resources!! Cheers & enjoy her!

Had a bad MAP sensor and it turned the car into a dog again. Swapped in a new OEM sensor and found someone had replaced the sensor before me with a non-OEM sensor. It's back to it's normal self again. It did have a code for not only the MAP sensor, but also the thermostat. I'm hoping that's just a fluke and it won't come back .

A little video of a 40-80 mph pull.

Did you ever resolved the misfire problem on your S600? I visited a local shop for diagnostics before went to v12icpack.com and that was a big mistake.
This local MB specialist shop used SDS and pointed #7 misfire on idle to a bad coil pack but that wasn't it.

Fuel pump and fuel filter solved my misfire. I had a hard start issue as well that the pump and filter also fixed. My misfire was also more prevalent at idle as well.

I r noticed I have to turn my key twice to get it to fire , otherwise it will just crank for several seconds the first try , but then starts right up on the second try

think that's a plugged fuel filter ?

Do the pump and filter at the same time. They are right next to each other and pretty easy to change out. Under the car on the driver side. They are under a black cover.

Nice! I said those same words out loud the other day when I bought my S55 and gave it about an eighth of the throttle on the freeway and it surged up to 100 in a second or two. Do you have any pics of your repaired interior?

I don't have any pictures right now. I'll try to snag some today since the kids seats are out of the back. But it's a bit cluttered with their toys. I never fixed the rear seats since the car seats will most likely mess up the seats anyways. When they get older (or we decide to sell) I'll change them out. I still need to get a new radio, air bag, and glove box. They just haven't been high on my priority list.

Whoa, you got your priorities messed up. Your wife and your kids are sitting in that car. Fix the airbag first.

Priorities are in check. Airbag is intact. It's just slashed on the leather. It still functions.

I like the blue calipers and lettering, nice touch. Those quick pulls are impressive, good enough to surprise a few people. I had a guy in a Continental GT try to get frisky with me on the freeway the other day, he wouldn't even look at me after that beating. You guys do great work, it's good to see people taking the trouble to bring these cars back. There's not enough of them to spare.

4 months of driving and we had our first issue since putting the car back together. Last week the transmission decided it wanted to act like it was in neutral all of a sudden. Thankfully, this happened right in front of my shop. A quick reset of the adaptive transmission program and it was able to drive onto one of my lifts. First thing we noticed was a high fluid level in the transmission. I found that odd since we have serviced the transmission ourselves and I was sure the level was proper. Then, I thought back to a month ago where the low coolant level light came on. At the time, we were on a road trip, so I just added some water (about a quart) and we went on our merry way. After seeing the high transmission fluid level, the issue became clear. A faulty transmission cooler in the radiator. So, with that, I ordered up a new Behr radiator, Mercedes coolant, and transmission fluid/filter. While in there, I finally installed a rebuilt suspension solenoid block in the front to fix the sagging front left strut that we would experience when sitting overnight. Everything is back in and working smoothly again.
I am pretty sure one of the turbos is leaking oil out of the turbine. I'll have to pull the downpipes to confirm. I'm not surprised, as it seems to have a bad catalytic converter. But, it sounds like forced upgrades to me.

Forced upgrade sounds good to me!
