Comparing the various appearance changes in model years
Today I had opportunity to sit in a mint 2006 s430 which. Led me to compare and contrast to my other w220- a 2000 s430, 2002 s500 and 2003 s600
here are my observations strictly in feel and appearance - since the different performance of the different models is well documented
the 2006 wood trim across The dash and doors has a thin chrome metal trim on the wood edge , making it even richer . I think all 2004-2006 have this chrome
the 430 leather is thick and tough . Almost like mbtex. Only the center portion is perforated . The 500 and 600 have ventilated seats so the entire seat material is perforated and far smoother and softer ,a large step up in quality feel . If you get a w220 try to get the ventilated seats with the upgraded leather . Not all 500 have it .
the door sills are a cheap combination of one level plastic and one level brushed aluminum in 2000-2002. Models . The 2003-2006 of all models gets richer bright chrome sills that cover both levels and looks much better .
the wide screen radio display (2003-2006) looks far more modern
The headlights of course look better on the 2003-2006
