How long do sport tires last?

For those of you with the sport package on your S (Staggered Setup) how long do your tires last before you have to replace them? Do they get louder as the miles roll on? Just a question that I thought of out of nowhere lol.

hmmm...not sure about sport :p but our Conti's are almost down to the wear bar in the rears at 27k

I think the longest for a set of tires for lasting is our ML430...50k on the first set of Dunlop Grand Trek's

I think too much power on the S500, hehe.

I would think the sport would last around the same if not quicker because it's low-profile and thinner, yes? And i'm assuming less tread as well...

hmm. I also ask cause one day, when I can get an S, I want the sport, but even though most people will say if you can afford the car you should be able to afford the tires, I just dont wanna mess around with that. I can handle doing winter tires, I would just buy another set of rims and switch when needed, but I dont want to be buying new tires every 15-20k miles. I dont even know what the average is for tires on any other car though, I am sort of clueless.

lol. average depends on your driving habits. I mean, like our ML, the first set of tires lasted 50k/about 4 years. Thats the longest we've ever gotten out of a set, lol.

my last set on my w202, about 20k....they were really crappy tires apparently. I'm on Conti's now and I have 20k on them...much better wear (about 1/2) than the BFGoodRich Touring tires I had before.

If you can afford the car doesn't necessarily mean you have to keep dumping money into tires/rims/etc. Absolutely not...just because you have the money doesn't mean you want/need to spend it all the time, right?

look at treadwear rating. the older S500s came with dunlop SP9000s for sport tires with a rating of 280. They would last 15-25k depending on how u drive. pilot sports generally wear quicker which came on some of the models. Basically it depends on how u drive but the absolute max u can prob get out of them is 25-30k miles. You can fit some all season tires on the S-sport package wheels.

or I can ask for the wheels that would come on a 4 Matic, they are all season and they are not staggered, making it even simpler. But who knows how long b4 I get an S.

Sport Tires

My Dunlop Pilot Sports have lasted 38,000 and counting, The only thing I have done is check and adjust correct tire pressure every Sunday when I fill the car up with gas, Now gas prices in California is a whole different story !!!

no such thing as dunlop pilot sports. There are michelin pilot sports. 38k is a major stretch on any high performance tires, i would def swap em out for better rain traction. IIRC the 4matic sports come with pilot sports or bridgestone potenza RE050s. Awiner says he likes his new MICHELIN pilot sport 2s better than the old potenza RE050s.

I have those same S 03's on my S500 and am getting tired of replacing them every 10k miles. I don't even push the car/
Are there any 18" tires that ride well, aren't loud and last alot longer?

i think 10 k miles is a little much. I would probably put 12-14k miles a year on the car that would be too much of a hassle, plus the fact that I would need winter wheels too.

get pilot sports or SP9000s, SP9000s are quiet and should last a whle.

Thats because the goodyears are a harder compound and do not perform as well. If you drive hard and want max. performance tires you have to pay the price unfortunately, or stop driving the car so hard.
