Remote trunk opening pump fixed for free
So my automatic trunk opening stopped functioning. I checked the fuses 13, 59, 62 all good and had power. Then checked for power at the pump plug, that was good.
Checked the pump for continuity and had nothing. So I decided to take it apart to see if there was a broken solder joint, and test continuity on the circuit board to see where the failure was.
I had no continuity where the power and ground wires connect to the circuit board then after testing everything it all checked out and I had continuity back at the power and ground wire I could not see anything that was loose but I put it back together and it works again.
If your pump goes out try taking it apart it took me 5 minutes and works great now.

My 2002 CL600 deck lid has never closed properly. Pump compartment filled with water & shorted the motor. Passenger side front corner of lid never aligns with the body. Lid is difficult to open and close. Your article inspired me to go on eBay & order spring hinges today. Found a pair in my color--silver. $110. I could have purchased new from MBZ for about $280. I'm eager to get the parts and install them.

also the spring hinges are not for the cars with the hydraulic power trunk lid closer . The cars with the power trunk lid closed only use gas struts and no springs
the trunk not closing at the corner is a common problem on cars with the power trunk closer

Sometimes, a thorough application of a good penetrating lubricant will take care of hinge problems. Something like Kroil is best - WD-40 is NOT a good lubricant.
