First MB Choices
All,
New to forum and new to MB. I am looking for a daily driver that wont break the bank. I have about 10-11k to spend and I am looking at an 05 S600. It is a 3 owner with 106k on it. The last owner has had it 8 of the 12 years and has had it serviced at a local indy MB shop. He has replaced the engine mounts and the compressor for the suspension. I have attached some pics. Cosmetically, it is about a 7/10 with some scuffing on the driver door frame fabric, but the rest of the interior is very well kept.
I drove it today and it was a beast! A smooth, quiet and powerful beast! I could definitely felt the heaviness of it but it still handled quite nimbly for such a big car. I need some opinions here though. I am not sure that this is not a good place to start with my first MB. I am also looking at an 07 E550 with 92k that is pretty much the same price ($10.5k). I plan to do a PPI before any purchase. I have been researching for the last month or so, and continue to do my research on these, but I want/need to make a decision within the next 3-5 days. Any help would be appreciated!
Cheers,
TG

Thanks for the heads up. I just read the overview if the suit. I noticed a shimmy in the 550 when at idle. Could that be the idle gear? I am leaning more towards a W220 now anyway.

S600 in for PPI now at local indy shop.
The owner is asking 10,900 for it. If PPI is clean, I was thinking about offering 9,500 with max 10,000.
Is this in line for a local car with 100k on it?

What year 2005 ? that's a good price if it checks out
The 2001-2002 are not turbo and not worth $10,000
the 2003-2006 are twin turbo and might be worth $10,000 if mint . You can expect large repair bills for coil packs and abc suspension , no matter how good the car checks out it is likely to need these soon
