200k 04 S430 4matic for sale
04 S430 4Matic 200K
Good afternoon , I️ just joined this forum but been lurking . I️ came across 04 S430 4matic with 200,000 miles on it . The seller says it won’t start because of electrical problem. They want $1500, I’m definitely not paying that, but I️ am interested in this vehicle . What should I️ look for and ask please?

Could be something simple like a starter failure, but there's a myriad of reasons the car won't start. Make sure it's got a good battery (jump starting is not a substitute), and have it scanned. There's almost nothing you can do by just looking at it.

Ok , to add I️ reread the post and they said it will not run because of electrical issue . Maybe the same but just wanted to point that out.

04 with 200k/doesn't start + known problem, I would say not worth the hassle for any amount of money.
It also looks like it hasn't been used for a while, which means the owner didn't think it was worth fixing....which means, you probably won't either.
If you really like W220 S class, I would highly recommend going for 06 model with 100k or less in mint condition (inside out) and ALL service records. All of these would be my requirements, lack of these would be my deal breakers.
Above can be had for under 10k now days......but you better be prepared to work on it yourself or dish out THOUSANDS at any moments notice.

Do you feel lucky?
If you knew these cars very well, and had the diagnostic system and knew how to use it, it might take a new battery and a crankshaft sensor, for a total of a couple of hours work and $200.
Or, it could take weeks or months for you to find what is wrong and cost $2000 in parts.
If you are not prepared to spend a lot of time learning how to maintain and repair a very complex car, and have the location and tools to do so, walk away...
