Is a AGM battery required

If you have a W220 (you don't say what you have or where you are), the complex systems both put a heavy demand on the battery and have very definite voltage requirements. A battery that is failing, or not big enough, or not being charged enough, can cause a surprising number and variety of faults and problems. Almost everyone who has experience in this area strongly suggests that you not cheap out on battery replacement. The AGM is better, and bigger is better.

AGM batteries should be used on cars (and alternators) that are designed for AGM batteries.
AGM and wet-cell batteries have different charging strategies. An AGM battery will work, but I think there's a risk it will have a short life.
What car have you got and what sort of battery is specified in your manual.
