2005 S430 Blower Motor works sometimes
My 2005 S430 4Matic has been acting up with the blower motor not working lately. It was very evident yesterday when I got in my car at the end of the workday and after it had been parked in the sun all day, it was fairly warm inside. I expected the car to cool down as usual with the climate controls always being set on AUTO.....but nope....nothing.
I checked the voltage going to the blower motor using the "REST" button menu and on MAX, (number 10) showed 5.9 volts. What I've read is it should be at (or near) 6 volts on MAX.
So, that means it should be the Blower Motor itself or the Regulator, right?
Well, if the blower came 'ON' about 45 minutes into my ride without any weird noises coming from the motor, then it can't be the blower motor, right?
I'm just trying to narrow it down without opening the underside of the passenger's dash and actually testing the motor.and wires going to the regulator.
Any thoughts?
BTW, the car has 250752 miles on it and I believe it's the original blower motor.

My first guess is that there is a loose connection somewhere in the circuit. (Plug-connections, fuse holders, etc.) Other possibilities include worn brushes in the blower motor that make intermittent contact, and a broken wire somewhere in the circuit or the the regulator. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to determine what the problem is other than physical inspection and testing.
If you do decide to look at the system, be sure to look carefully for any traces of heat damage on each of the connections. A poor connection often causes heat.

Wallyp, Thank you for the info. I will check this tomorrow and see what it all looks like. I'll let you know what I end up finding.

I have the same issue with my w212. Blower didn't work two weeks ago, but magically worked after a few hours. It's dead again now. Did you figure out what your issue was?

I have not had a chance to look yet, however it is working for me at the moment. I have a feeling it is/was just a poor electrical connection either with the blower or the regulator attached to the blower.
I was able to pick up a regulator at a local salvage yard so if it acts up again, I'll have that to install and inspect the wiring while I'm in there.
Good luck.
