1994 s320
s320 loud banging wont move
I have a 1994 s320. The wife was driving when she heard loud banging then no movement. No forward or reverse. Had it towed home, it goes into gear but makes loud banging like stripped teeth. I removed diff cover and it looked new. No metal pieces or shavings and rotates smooth. I removed the left side cv axle, outside rotates smooth but the inside binds a little. From the noise it made, you think it would be more obvious. I really don't have the money to guess and buy parts i don't need. Please advise.

but the noise you describe sound like a busted flex disc
