ive always wondered how far they actually go. Here in the states the power rear seats are optional. Is the recline really an effective amount? edit: I just now realized that isnt your car, since your in the UK.

Reclinable rear seats (power rear seats?) are optional on the SWB W220 but standard on the LWB. No that isnt our car, its an S55 that was on ebay, im surprised how far it actually reclines in the picture because ours doesn't recline anywhere near that far.

Maybe it's reclining so far back

Due to damage incurred from the accident?(I saw that S55 on Ebay too, it has comprehensive structural damage those rear seats have probably been compromised) just a thought...

Ah you could be right. Also, do you have any idea what that thing is inbetween the two rear seats? That brown wooden area?

the seats recline further when you spec the optional two independent comfor seats, the middle is just a storage area.

Ah, thats a bit rubbish then isn't it, I don't understand why they can't put seats that recline that far even without the seperate comfort package, considering the reclining seats is already an option.

If you think about it, you end up paying for 2 seperate options, one ontop of the other to achieve a more reclining seat......good job MB

I don't think the seats are reclining as far as you think. If you noticed in the picture the driver's seat is positioned further back then the front passenger seat, thus giving the effect that the rear seat is reclined further then one would expect it to.

I have the reclining rear seat option in my car and I guess-ta-mate that it reclines about 2 nches (judging from the difference of the seat bottom position when one is reclined and one is not).

Im not looking at the gap between the front seat and the rear seat, im looking at the centre rear seat (which doesn't recline) and how far the side rear seats stick out. Ours only sticks out a couple of inches, in that photo above, thats definitely about 8 or 9 inches at least.

Well the center is just storage and even with left & right rear passenger seat not reclined the center storage area does not lined up with the seats (if I remember correctly).

I have seen a few, but can't remember them exactly, but I think that is how they are, that is, they don't line up with the seats. Someone can correct me if I am wrong

Just to clear something up, all W220s in the US are LWB, and power rear seats are optional.

Really? What do you get with your LWB then?

Over here, you have the choice of SWB or LWB, LWB gives you the extra space, rear sunblind, parktronic, heated rear seats, reclinable rear seats.

here we have the Power Rear Shade standard, but parktronic, power rears, heated rears are all optional. go to www.mbusa.com and go to the build page of one of the S models. here on the window stickers it will say S500V or S430V same for the 600 and 55 I think, this V indicates LWB, because in canada they have the V and the S. S is the short wheelbase over there. But all of ours are V.

That just shows how the US always get the short straw, you guys don't get the TV either do you? But then I think you make up for it by having cheaper prices
