Angry S 500 ABS Light problem NEED HELP!!!

This summer I spent it replacing the whole suspension along with wheel bearings on both sides of the car . abs light appeared after work was done, took to dealer they did a brake flush and determined that the hub assembly was not the issue. told me it was a low voltage coming from computer. I declined the work from those morons and bought a used unit and had it reprogramed. Light is still on when scanned showing a low voltage to the p/s front wheel, also showing speed sensor this was replaced while I was working on it. All malfunctions will be gone when first started until driving the car. It gets up to 30-35MPH light comes on, then last night noticed it went out at about 20 MPH and heard and felt the hydraulic unit struggling like it was a bad master cylinder. I have a feeling this could be a solenoid in the abs pump. ANY OTHER IDEAS???? The car has 118,000 miles

Bad speed sensor? Replacements aren't always working. Connections are tight? Have you tested the replacement sensor?

I find that if there is a new problem after working on a car, it's usually something I did that created the new problem.

Thanks for replying yes new sensor was tested on d/s works fine. connections are tight as well. you just made me think of something that I did do that I shouldn't have done I allowed a neighbor that did the wheel bearings to talk me into taking off the brake caliper on that P/S side. in turn this sent air into the system (assuming that the ABS hydraulic pump works the same way as a transmission valve body ) this dried out the ball bearing for that solenoid therefore frying the solenoid it is a theory anyway

This doesn't make sense. If you have air in your brake lines you will know. Did you replace the pulse ring for wheel speed sensor when you did the bearings? I ca't tell you how many times I've had people come in with WSS codes after doing their own bearings. It's usually a bent pulse wheel that they tried to reuse, some are built into the seal and some are a separate piece. Any grease build up can also interfere with the pickup of the wheel speed. you can verify by swapping the hub left to right and see if your fault code follows.

According to the dealership, the impulse ring was put on incorrectly so they put a new one on but stated that was not the issue. I went in to get a full brake flush done which they did complete that. There should not be any air in those lines... Actually if you think about the solenoid not opening properly that would distress the master cylinder. Just out of curiosity one would have to bleed the bakes after replacement of that pump, correct? Do you really need the mb star system to do that or can you disconnect the battery and electrical connection on the pump then do a power bleed to all 4 wheels???

You don't need anything special to bleed the brakes. Replacing the pump won't have anything to do with a wheel speed sensor code. Those sensors come right off the ESP module.

srs abs light problem solved

after all the problems I was having with the ABS system found that a faulty aftermarket abs sensor was indeed the culprit. The dealer I took this problem too stated they swapped out this sensor to the left side with no change. I doubt he rescanned it to make sure it was indeed the left side and not the right... So I was deceived by the dealership in believing that it was not the sensor when really it was the issue the whole time... The moral of this is I will NEVER be buying any electrical part that is not a genuine Mercedes part ever again. The Chinese can keep their crappy parts.
