Alternator dead

Hi,
My alternator has died on my 2000 S430. I am getting the "Check Battery - Visit Workshop" red message. I am able to trickle charge the battery overnight to get me around locally.
I am looking at getting a 2nd hand or reman. unit as they are around $140. I am confident I can remove and refit myself.
I have considered getting just the voltage regulator, but it will cost me around $120 here in Australia.

My issue is that every alternator I find has a different part number from mine. They are all off W220 S430 models and are rated the same in output.
Are all alternators on a 430 engine the same? I understand the S500 and S320 use the same spec too.
Is anyone aware of the alternator differing in fitment or size across models?

Does an alternator off an ML430 or an E430 differ from an alternator on an S430?

thanks
Ben
