2002 S430 Door Control Module Failure

Hi!

About 2 months ago I got a 2002 S430 from a family member and it came with a broken front passenger-side door control module. I bought a used one on eBay and it worked great for 2 months until I saw it failed again today. Is there an underlying problem that could be causing the passenger door control modules to keep failing or is it just a coincidence that they both went bad? I'm afraid to buy another one without knowing if there is something outside the modules causing them to fail or if they were just defective. Also, my passenger-side mirror is now stuck folded in. Is there any way to manually unfold the mirror without breaking it so I can drive the car? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a similar issue with my 2007 CLE AM passenger door. The Diagnostics Tool reports an open circuit with the heated mirror, Voltage to the mirror is 10.2v, even when the diagnostic tool actuates the circuit on/off. Replaced the mirror and got the same message. The mirror has continuity. I'm looking at purchasing a used control module from the UK (couldn't find one in the US via internet) but wonder if it will soon fail as yours did.

Did you resolve your issue, and how so?

Used electronic and electrical parts typically do not have a warranty unless installed by the Dealer. PAYPAL offers an extended warranty of sorts.

I wound up buying another used door control module (from eBay) and installing it and I haven't had any problems with it since. When I was putting it in I noticed there was a rip in the rubber seal between the passenger mirror and the body and thought maybe water was getting into the door through it and that was why the controllers kept failing. I bought a new seal and installed it along with the door control module and everything is working fine now.
