Old thread...but are the ones you bought similar to this one on eBay? I'd rather not buy on eBay but if it looks the same I may get it.

Fellas, I know this is an old thread. But I thought I'd resurrect it to make note of a new alternative to the Plastic SLK flat badge.
There is a guy on the C-Class forums who is converting geniune OEM upright stars into Flat badges, made of METAL. I have one on my car. It's gorgeous!
Check out this thread. The guy making the badges, DFWdude, appears in post #55, and it gets really interesting from there... https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/143911-new-mercedes-benz-white-star-flat-hood-badge-c-class-w203.html

I didn't see this until now...
The badge is made by a company called Italeri. Their principle business is making highly reputed plastic models. I've built more than a few myself. Italeri does have a factory in Spain in addition to their native home in Italy.
Their current logo is shown here in color, but I recall their previous logo had the same design as embossed on the back of the badge (circled). Also, to the right, it's obvious the part is made of "ABS" plastic.
