Starter lagging?

Exaggerated starting interval? So I hit the key and my S500 cranks and cranks then fails to start...so I hit it a second time and it works like it should.

Anyone care to comment?

Thanks!

if it always starts the second time it’s a fuel pressure issue , first thing is to install new fuel filter . It’s a needed maintenance item anyway . If that doesn’t work need to check fuel pressure regulator , injectors etc

could be the switchover from winter blend gas, summer blend has a lower vapor pressure....

Well, thanks,

But before I can check those things mentioned above, today my key got wet from the rain and while I dried it out and put in new batteries...key will not turn to starting position...in fact it will not turn at all.???

Any suggestions are extremely welcome!!!

Sounds like you need to buy a new key first

I would try the drying operation again, perhaps using 91% alcohol or an electronic spray.

OK! Got it sorted out! When my key even smells rain or moisture, I have to take it apart, dry it out, then 2 new batteries and it works again.

The lagging starter issue was due to my command was starting my A/C automatically so by the moment it was sending juice to the starter, the volts were pre-engaged by the climate control module and thus weakened to such a degree that she would grind but not fire...reset my CC from auto to manual so as to release it from the diversion, or distraction, so to speak and she starts like a dog in heat!

Thanks all for your time and consideration!

If your cranking voltage is so low it can’t take both the climate control and the starter, your battery is weak . It probably is old or not the correct amp rating

I agree. While the problem could possibly be a poor connection in one of the main power lines, or a faulty alternator, a very marginal battery is more likely.
