My glove compartment box will not open. I noticed this a few months ago. However, lately I had to have my battery jumped and it opened after that. However, the next day, I could not get it to open. Is this connected to battery problem? Can any one offer solutions on how to get this opened? This is a 2000 S430. I have tried the mechanical key.

The glove compartment door and latch are purely mechanical - no electrical functions at all. Possibilities might include latch needs lubrication, latch needs adjustment, cable stretched, door hinges need adjustment, etc.
