2004 S 430

Just purchased my 2004 S430. It may seem trivial but has anyone figured out how to get rid of that annoying BIG RED “LED” under the four way emergency flasher in the center of the command console? It drives me nuts at night!

It can be done, I have taken similar MB switches apart (W203, W211, R171) and you can see the LED directly under the button... you can simply snip it off if you like (getting the switch apart and to go back together correctly is the hardest part) its not too difficult. Or if you are really good you could find the resistors that go to that LED and vary their size to set the brightness. All depends on how technically inclined you are.
In my personal opinion i don't think its too bright... could possibly be your particular switch is too bright, we see a lot of illumination variation. You could ask the dealer to swap it out possibly, but i think its fine.

IMHO,it should stay as is,suppose you got in an accident, and your passenger was still conscious,by the indicator being so large, your passenger would probably figure it out,and put it on,bringing much needed help to you! Brother, you can do what you like, but mine stays as is........
