shift linkage size

shift linkage size
i was lookin online for the linkage and notice there r 2 sizes. a 10mm n a 5mm offset. which 1 is for a 03 s430 base? and im guessing metal is better than plastic? and how long can i drive the the old 1? it just started to feel notchy on shifting into park.

I assume that you are asking about the safety lock-out link. I have seen three different links, and have never found any way to tell which your car will have before you disassemble the shifter and look. That is the reason that many of the vendors simply sell a package of all three types at a reasonable price.
You can, of course, take the broken link out and match it for purchase. This means that either your car will be undrivable for a couple of weeks, or you can remove the link and then eventually disassemble again to put the new link in.
Yes, metal appears to be better than plastic.
You can drive with a breaking link somewhere between never again, or for weeks.
If you get stranded by a broken link, you can often/sometimes/perhaps start the engine, hold the brake, put moderate pressure on the shift lever toward D, and then whack the knob firmly on top. If you do that, I suggest that you take the car to where you plan to fix it before you put it back into park.

you need to either buy the kit with all 3 sizes or take yours out To see what you have
