2001 Sport Pkg - 20-spoke AMG (2014-17) Rims?
These are the type of rims I'm considering: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/YGIAA...9On/s-l500.jpg
Also, the stock rims on the 2001 sport package are 18" and by 2014 they'd grown to 20". If I bought a set of the rims I want in 18" or 19" made for a different platform (C or E class, for example) would I have massive offset problems? If I went with the 20's, would I be stuck with tiny sidewall rubber that compromises the ride quality? OR would it improve handling and have negligible ride quality effect due to the air suspension stepping up and compensating?
Thanks for your experienced wisdom here!
other Models usually have wrong offset that stick out too far and so it can’t be corrected with spacers
the offset should be 45. Note if you are buying aftermarket rims of this style it seems the 18 and 19 have the proper offset , but note the offset being sold for 20 inch is incorrect at 35. They will stick out too much especially in the rear as it’s a wider wheel .
20s are ok on sclass thanks to airmatic suspension . Just be sure to run 255/35/20 tires and not 30 series if you get the 20s
if you get 18 run 245/45/18 front and 275/40/18 rear

Question was simply whether anyone's ever seen this on a W220. I've just bought a 2001 S500 w/ sport appearance package. Handsome as can be; I've seen the rims I was talking about (which are 14 spoke, not 20) on the 2011-13 CL63 and they made the thing look one generation newer - truly amazing! That's why I'm curious to see how they look on the 220, particularly since they're 2 inches larger in diameter than the sport pkg monoblocks, which fit the "scale" of the car nicely.
There's nothing more ridiculous than rims that are just stupidly too-big on a car. By the look of it, 20s work okay; how much "adjusting" of the air suspension is required, and what does making those adjustments entail?
