Yea they changed. Here's a pic of an '00 next to an '04. I'm sure you can see the difference.

Thanks for posting the picture. I can clearly see the difference in those. Those didnt have the AMG bumpers. Were there any changes to the AMG bumpers from 2001-2005? Again, a picture would be great.

Yes the new AMG bumper bolted right on no prob. But

Your going to have major problems trying to close the hood if you don't get the new 03' -04' hood it's a necessity for the mod to work.

No I used the old AMG bumper it worked fine no cutting

Besides notable grill differences, the 03'-04' hood is actually taller by an inch all around giving more room for the S600 twin turbo model engine, they couldn't squeeze the new ingine under the old hood.
So they just made it bigger and added it to all new S class models.
If you look at it side by side in person new against older version, you can really see the difference it looks way more aggressive.
