B&O coming to the new S!!
it should be interesting. Although Bang and Olufsen isn't my favourite hi-fi company, i think they would sound better than Bose. but damn do i love B&O earphones!!

B&O out of Denmark is light years ahead of BOSE in high-end sound reproduction. I agree with JamE55, that this would be an excellent addition to the S and a good differentiator for Mercedes.

Wonder if they will make B&O standard on all MB's ... are these really all that much better...
and then my question to everyone is.. MB uses Bose.. but would you say that it's the lowest end of the bose lineup that is used by car manufacturers?

B&O is very expensive. All high end audiophile equipment is very expensive.....for only a small incremental difference in sound quality. But, in all areas people are willing to pay big premiums for that final area of incremental perfection. B&O is actually on the cheaper range of true high end audiophile equipment.
As far as B&O being worth the difference in price over BOSE is somewhat like saying "one pays too much for the Mecedes name when a Hona Accord does the same thing"......incrementally, Mercedes owners appreciate the differences that the masses couldn't appreciate (or afford) but are willing to pay premiums.

I hate the Bose in my Mercedes. Bose is one of the worst Audio companies ever. I am a true 'audiophile' since the 1970's and Bose has always made inferior stuff. That infamous and outdated 901 home series has been a joke since the 70's. Every audio company in the world details their products stuff and Bose never gives out their speaker specifications. You can not find the Frequency Response, Impedence, Crossover Points, Impedence nor the Speaker Sensitivity for any Bose speakers.
B&O is way overpriced and only sells due to the unique looks of the products. Those buying B&O are trying to buy 'electronic art' or conversation pieces rather than performance. They sell a way overpriced Plasma monitor which is built for them by Fujitsu.
The best OEM in-car stuff is probably the Marc Levinson stuff in Lexus.

I don't own an S class but is the bose stereo standard on it or is it an "upgrade" like on the C... i was just wondering because what I heard from the C owners were that they couldn't tell the difference between the 2 and some have even gone as far as saying the non bose system is better...
I was just wondering if it's an option.. wouldn't it be better to save the money on the upgrade and put in an aftermarket system?

although i've only been an audio enthusiast for 3-4 years or so, i believe B&O is mostly BS. but hell, it sure does beat BOSE. they do not have nice TV's, speakers, cables, or cd-players. the only good thing of their's would be the Earphones(which are awesome in every type of music).
M-benz is on the right track with upgrading to something more stylish IMO, even tho it doesn't sound as good as Dynaudio or ML.
hey E55 KEV, do you mind showing me your hi-fi system? can we do that "i'll show you mine, if you show me yours" type of thing?

IDOITBST,
You are right. Only the speakers are Bose the head units are made to www.Becker.com and the CD Players by Alpine.
Juke-box,
My love used to be Audio and now I spend my money on Mercedes stuff. I have moved from Audiophile to Audio/Videophile. Now desiring a Plasma monitor and HDTV. I have stuff by:
Adcom Separates
Celestion Speakers
a/d/s/ Speaker/Subs
Marantz Preamp
Carver Ribbon Speakers (traded)
Soundstream Separates
Sony ES Separates
Acoustic Research speakers
NAD speakers
I have desired:
Martin Logan Electrostatic speakers
Magnepan Ribbon speakers
McIntosh separates
I even had Laserdisc. Now for sale - www.e55amg.com/mdp600.html

Thanks Kev E55, Nice system!
Although i'm not into Video, my dad is...and yes, that Panasonic Plasma is one good unit!!! i absolutely love it(so does my mom!).
but of course, i prefer my own Panasonic Tau HDTV for Playstation2 games much more.
i'm not a Home Theatre type of guy, so i have a 2channel system. oh yea, i prefer the sweet sound of tube more than Solid State, so here she is:
Speakers: Avalon Acoustics "Symbol"
Integrated Amplifier: Unison Research S6 Tube Amplifier
CD-player: Marantz CD6000OSE
Speaker Cables: TaraLabs RSC1000
Interconnects: XLO interconnects
