2001 Mercedes s500 w220 key not working no start
Hello I have devolved a problem with this car I have purchased within the last 6 months. Last week I started having start problems. Put key in ignition turn key and nothing happens. So I do some research to find relay that controls this. I tap on the relay and the car starts. The other day I ordered a relay and once received it I installed the relay. Now I have no dash or cannot connect to the car. It’s like the key isn’t turning on the power. After some more research I found that my problem is in the EIS system. My question is if I purchase all 4 compnets, key fob EIS, shifter, and ECM from same year model car will this remedy my problem or will I need reprogramming? Thank you fror any input

I work mostly on R230's, but the 215/220/230 are all basically the same. You can swap the trio, but the cluster will probably not display mileage, the VIN in the modules will not be correct, and you won't be able to get dealer keys. The cluster can be reset, but a better approach is to clone your EIS if it is still readable. The cloned EIS is then just a drop-in replacement and you don't have to worry about any of the above issues. If the immo data cannot be read from your EIS, the used EIS can be virginized, and a green key made so that it can be installed and taught to your car. I can do either, PM me if you want more information.
