COMAND upgrade for 2000Model S-Class
The Mute+1+3 shows me for FIS H/W 22.98, S/W 40.99, Production Date 08-02-99. And if it helps, SH decoder V5.17 OMS_EU, Navi BIOS 861.22...
On another point - the Navi seems to be CD not DVD (so I assume I can't get TMC)?
Any help appreciated!

Shaun

OK - I'm confused now. One says the MY01 download will do, another says I should buy a CD from MB, and a third says it can't be done.
The site link to blaupunkt is surely just for the navigation software though - its nothing to do with a COMAND upgrade is it?
Is there anybody specifically with the same release as me who has upgraded (anything!) successfully?
Thanks
Shaun
when u buy the new cd it adds features to your command system that wernt available before.. for example when your typing in the street names it automatically removes the letters that arnt available. I know on older model it doesnt do this.
also with the new cd you get the latest streets and updated locations.
You misunderstand - I know what the upgrade might provide, but I'm confused by whether the download will work or I have to actually buy a CD - which is a challenge as my local MB dealer have never heard of such a CD.

The COMAND FIRWARE update is something that ONLY MB serve centers can get, unless you find it on the net like shaunconn has.
MY01 is the latest update for COMAND 2.5 (As used in the 2000+ CL/S Class 1999 in Europe as per shaunconn)
Now, as to what stenen knows, I am unfamiliar with. However, it is worth looking into.
I also suppose you have the instructions on how to enter the update menu for the CD Firmaware flash shaunconn ?

I have already tried updating my comand using the my01 update cd for none DX comand. my 1999 system says that the firmware already installed is the same as on the cd.So I updated anyway and after 40+ minutes the system was still the same. If you wish to try it your self here are the installation instructions :-
COMAND MY01 UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
Applies to COMAND 2.5 (maybe 2.0)
This update includes how to:
- update with CD
- apply same update TWICE or more (running MY01 twice removes any custom logo).
- recover from crash or fail
- prevent ICAN loops

1 Switch off ignition and withdraw ignition key.
2 Switch on operating unit with ON touch switch and wait about 10 s until operating unit is correctly switched off.
3 Press keys * and # at the same time and hold and switch on unit with ON switch. Wait until download screen is displayed, then release keys.
4 Insert download CD. (In the case of CD version with automatic CD eject, CD is ejected and must be inserted once again).
5 Press the following keys to override an older or same version: First of all RET alone, then 23 and 9 at the same time.
6 For download with ICAN activity (if ICAN active, download stops endlessly in the case of checking CD) press keys 1 and 3 at the same time (before start of download!)
7 Start download by selecting with start operating unit rotary knob and press on rotary knob.
8 The download now runs automatically in two stages and takes about 45 minutes in total.
9 Confirm final message with OK, remove download CD and insert NAVI map CD, switch unit off and on with ON switch.
Procedure in the case of download problems
===========================
If the download does not continue running or takes significantly more
than 45 minutes:
Remove fuse F61 (for radio/sound/COMAND operating unit and navigation) and insert again. This fuse is located in the right below the rear seat bench in the footwell (fuse and relay box below right rear seat). The fuse box is enclosed with a black rectangular plastic cover and can easily be opened without a tool. A drawing of the fuse assignment is provided at the vehicle tool kit in the trunk above the spare wheel. F61 is the 5th, counting from the middle of the vehicle, and the 14th, counting from the door (long row of fuses with a total of 18 fuse positions, not all of which are fitted). The fuse may be located in a different place on your vehicle. If in doubt, consult your handbook.
After this, once again start the download process.
