Driving W220 with collapsed suspension

I have 2003 S320 CDI with a collapsed right front suspension. I have to move house, about 8 kilometers away. The problem is that there are a few speedhumps etc. Can I drive the car to the new place. I will be careful with the speedhumps, Will inserting a rubber stop between the wishbone and where the suspension mounts help, or cause more problems? i am not planning on going faster that 30 km/h as it is all in town.

Back in the day, Mercedes Benz sold a W220 suspension part that was a shaped rubber block. The block was to be placed above the collapsed suspension so that you could drive home or to a shop. A friend's 2002 S500 blew an Airmatic strut while they were several hundred miles from home. He was lucky enough to be near a Harbor Freight store, and he bought a cheap hacksaw, some wire ties and a couple of solid rubber parking chocks. He managed to cobble together a substitute for the MB tool, and made it home with no problem.

Go for it!

Thanks. That was my thought as well. I just want it a little higher for the ground clearance.

I made up a pad by cutting up a rubber floormat into 4-inch squares, then tying them together with cable ties. It worked amazingly. Thanks for the advice. I live in the sticks with no Mercedes dealership close, so I made a plan. The ride was still surprisingly smooth.

honestly in my experience: I have driven with front collapsed and it was like driving a slammed civic that rubbed too. its doable. on a side note, my 2001 has those rubber bumpstops already built in. nothing happened I drove a couple miles and it bounced kindof wierd but then finally compressor kicked on (car was in storage)
