if I buy a 2003 halogen headlamp (a lot cheaper than the bixenon), can i just replace the halogen bulb to the xenon bulb, (the halogen color is whiteyellow,i want the light to be like purplewhite). i think i can save lots of money from that.

And how much is the cheapest 03 taillamp?

I was thinking the same thing. both 00-02 and 03 + headlight in halogen form use H7 headlight bulbs. There are plenty of HID H7 conversion available from $300 and up.

The halogen version of the 03+ headlight is about $1000 at amgkit.com

pro & cons

Pro -
Get 03 clear projector look
Save $$$$ (about $1000 even after H7 HID conversion)

Con -
No self leveling system
Need aftermarket H7 HID conversion kit.
H7 conversion kit is not really Legal with DOT
MB dealer may give you hassle on the conversion if they look in on it.

apx cost to upgrade to 03+ front /taill look would be about $1600 + shipping and installation. Not bad. actually.
$1000 03+ halogen headlight
$300 H7 HID conversion
$300 03+ taillights.

my view on this topic is because iam also very interested in changing the headlights and the taillights on my vehicle to give it that 03 look, oh yea by the way on that website the taillights are running about $250. i found out that even on the 03-04-05 models Bi-Xenon is an optional item so why worry about it just get the halogen 03 lamps and it gives you the look and saves you tons of $$$
