Exclamation Just picked up a 2006 S65 RENNtech - only issue is volume doesn't work

I recently picked up this 2006 S65 AMG RENNtech with 30K miles on it. It has a clean carfax and over the course of the last few years, had a lot of money put into replacing the brakes, spark plugs, coil packs, ABC suspension fluid and new tires.

My only issue in the few miles that I have put on the vehicle is that the radio does not have audio. I have uploaded a video to show the problem. It doesn't matter whether I push the up or down buttons on the steering wheel, of turn the dial on the display console, the volume is not on. I know it worked prior to shipping, and I believe it worked when I first got in the car, as I turned it down initially...now, nothing.

I replaced the fuse 61 in the rear fuse compartment which mentions it is for the radio, but I still seem to have the same problem.

My question, is this a somewhat cheap / common issue, or is this a bigger issue that an actual mechanic needs to fix. Personally, it doesn't really kill me if there is no audio, it's more of an annoyance.

Any help would be appreciated!

Regards,
EdinaCarGuy

Most likely, the problem is not in the radio itself, but in the amplifier inside the left rear trunk panel depending on how handy you are, you could remove the amplifier , take a picture of the part number and find a used replacement on eBay pretty cheap. Or you could have a mechanic do this for you

+1 for the amplifier. I replaced mine with an eBay amplifier and it's now giving the same issues, exacerbated by the cold. It will come on and go as it heats up.

Any chance you could link me what you bought? Also, I’ve been digging around to find instruction on how to replace the amp
and they are somewhat hard to find - any chance you have them?

The amps differ by year so you must match the part numbers from your car

takeoff the left rear trunk panel the amp is behind it

OP does it have the Renn Tech air filter arrangement under the hood?

If so... photos!

I believe so, when I go out to the garage next I’ll photo it. It had the ECU tune, intercooling pump upgrade kit, lowering module, performance air filters, & dunk tests (all at RennTech).

But, the other day I went out and the battery was dead. I jumped it and now the radio works fine.
