Command '05, Can it play dvds?
Hey, I just picked up a 2005 S500 4 Matic up here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I tried playing a DVD, because I saw the DVD Video logo on one of the screens. When I pop in the DVD it says the following "Due to Driver's Distraction the picture has been faded out." Is there anyway to bypass this so I can watch movies? What software or firmware do I need? Where do I get it? How do I do it?

yes my MB sales rep told me its possible with a chip upgrade but thats all he knew, he didnt know where to get the chip from either but Yes its definately possible

Hello Mischief. I am also from Calgary. Have you had any luck with the 2005 S500 playing DVDs? My friend just picked up a 4matic with sport package and would like to do the same thing.

I have reprogrammed W220 US spec DVD comands with the help of a (modified) stardiagnose system and was NOT able to get the DVD playback going...
A unitswap will definitely work though...we have several new eurospec W220 DVD comands in stock.
