Our S Class Getting Wheels

my dad hates the stock rims on the sclass. please post pictures of your sclass with your new or any other rim aside from the standard 16 inch rim so i can show my dad so he can get some ideas of what diffeerent wheels are out there and how they will look on the car. he's seen tirerack but he wants to see real pics...with rim size and tire size and costs too. please. thanks

19"s are the minimum. The car is too damn big to fit anything smaller.

Check out the major mercedes tuners.. brabus, carlsson, lorinser.

Its pricey, but then again, so is the s class.

Well, its all personal preference and wheel style. I live in LA where 19"s is the minimum on all cars. 22"s are pretty common around here. Its kinda biased to base opinions on the people in LA, since living here really skews your perspective on appearances. Too many people try to out-do each other.

But for the S class, the car is huge. A big boat. 18's will look _okay_, but you will be saying to yourself "damn I should of gotten 19's".

See what your dad's preferences are. I don't think he wants a crazy aftermarket look. AMG sells a good 19" rim which is pretty affordable. Its called the AMG model 215. Its found on the CL's. Its looks classy and its has a great price.

Tirerack is a great site, but limited selection, especially for S classes. Stay away from mille miglia and AT Italia. Its cheap, generic stuff.

But see what kind of style he wants and his budget. Go for 19's with a classy 5 spoke style, either carlsson 1/5 or 2/5, or even lorinser lm5's. I can help you out on a selection.

Also, did you guys get the sports package? The sports package really makes the S class look damn pimp. He might think about getting a carlsson kit, which is not that expensive and has a great subtle look.

My style is always a quiet subtle aftermarket look. I don't want to stand out, but then again, i don't want to drive a stock car. It's difficult to balance your ego and pride heh.

Also, the ride isn't too bad on 19"s. Does your car have ABC? I just have the regular airmatic which allows me to change the feel of the suspension. I always set it to one light because I do like a good road feel.

In other words, its not that bad and within acceptable ranges.

LM5's, 18 in 245/45 Bridgestone S-03 Pole Positions. No ride difference. Great ride overall. I only have them for 1K, but so far so good.

IMHO, 18 in's are large enough.

hey musthafar i love those rims also!!!! do they come in chrome aswell? what are the size on those?!

yeah we didn't get teh sports body kit actually, and we have that regular airmatic suspension thing aswell. i dunno why we didn't get the kit ... oh wait i remember. there was like a huge waiting list deal and we had some number on teh spot when the car came out first and well then we just didn't know about it, but now i am seeing tons and tons of 2001's and 2002's with the sport kit and my dad is kinda regretting it, cuz it makes the car look really sporty...like a young man's car, and well my dad is a lil older so i guess he might be haveing a post mid life crisis or soemthing! HAHAH! i dunno but either way i like the idea of 19's and the wheels that musthafar put up. what are some specs on that?

also the carlson kit? what does that look like ... where can i get this stuff like rims and kits and what not?
thanks a bunch

Yea i'm going for the Brabus rims in a few weeks. I tend to switch out rims every 9 months or so heh.

This is my car with the Brabus kit:

If you know an aftermarket shop, they can definitely get the AMG kit for you. IMO the amg kit is probably the best value if you get it from the factory. I'm not sure what the price is through aftermarket channel, but it couldn't be that expensive. If he got the AMG kit, it would actually increase the resale value since it is a factory option.

Here is a picture of the carlsson kit:

The carlsson kit is pretty good if you want a subtle look. Also, I think its cheaper than the Brabus or Lorinser.

Brabus Monoblock 19"s will run you about $1100-1200 per rim. The 20's will be about $1300-1500 depending on where you get it. The Brabus kit is about $1800-2000 for the front and rear piece EACH.

I'm not sure if there are alot of shops in your car. We have tons down in LA. I'll PM you a shop that I know that has good prices.

Also, you can chrome any rim you want. The cost is an extra $100 per wheel.

Hey JL88, So what do you do with your old rims when you change them every 9 months? Are you going with 20" monoblock 6's next?

yep, no body kit, just wheels. The wheels are 19x8.5 in front 19x9.5 in the rear. tires are Dunlap sp 9000 245-40-zr19 in front 275-35-zr19 in back. they were just over 4k for wheels and tires at tire rack. as far as ride the best i can describe it is... the car with the stock 16" wheels and BOTH lights on the sport ride button is about the same as the car with the 19" wheels and BOTH lights OFF. I dont ususally use either light with these wheels or the ride would become more harsh that my 911.

The rims on the black S back there are 20" Brabus Monoblock VI 2pc...very nice but pricey. Take a look at our website and see if anything interests you

http://www.wheelexperts.com

There are lots of stuff for S Class. We have 20" Auto Couture Supreme 3pc rims in chrome on special right now.

As far as the bodykit it's really a matter of personal preference. I don't think you can go wrong with or without it. Get us some pics once you get youw wheels.

Have you seen the Lowenhart LD1's? I saw a black S class with these 20" rims/low profile tires at my dealership..... really sweet ride. The rims were chromed. I tried to find a black S-class with these rims on it but had no luck. I actually prefer them over the Brabus V multipiece on the S class.
