2003 S500 PSE Pump Model No
I have a 2003 S500 which needs a PSE Pump and the model that used to work on it was 220 800 0748 which is no longer being manufactured. I tried 220 800 0848 and that did not work and I had forgotten it didn't work when I tried it a year ago. Now a local MB Dealer tells me the compatible model would be 220 800 1148. But now I am finding from some sellers on eBay that it IS NOT compatible with my model of S500.
I know some of you guys are gurus in this space. It would greatly help me if someone could definitively tell me which model is compatible and also some thoughts on a non-eBay source for buying a reliable pump. Local MB dealers don't sell for anything less than $1200.00

The PSE pump must match your particular car, and must be programmed to operate the options installed on your car. (Auto-open deck lid or not, inflatable seat bolsters or not, etc., etc.)
The pump consists of two subassemblies - the actual pump (which is very simple, and needs no programming), and the control system, which is very complex and must be precisely programmed to match your car.
If your problem is the common one - the pump no longer develops sufficient positive and negative air pressures - the solution is pretty simple. The two units come apart pretty easily (without taking the air lines off!), so you can install a working pump on your functional control unit, maintaining all the proper programming.
