Test driving an 00

On monday we are supposed to go test drive an 00 S500 with 31k miles, Azure Blue on Java. My mother cried "I love my van, I love my van" as my dad talked her into atleast taking one for a spin to see if she likes it. She agreed. Anyways, my dad is in love with the car regardless of the year. We are going to see if we can check the service history and find out whats been worked on. Im going to do a search on the 00 model year too, but wanted any new imput that you guys might be able to offer. I will try to take pics of it if i can. My mom isnt too thrilled though. Ha and this is so odd of me to tell my dad look at an 00...how hyporcritical of me. we are going to throughly check this car for sure. its starmarked so hopefully its ok

if its star certified than your gettin a good car because MB does a 150 point inspection on the car and they also tell you if any damage over $5000 CAD had happened to the car which usually involves an accident...you have post more than 12G posts on this website iam sure you know that mechnically the 00 models werent that great...

she will come around eventually. i think she would rather have a lexus anyways. so whenver she says the van has to go I will pounce on the opportunity. We looked at E classes last year but that was a no go also

I pulled the maintenance records on my 3 yr old Starmarked S500 before purchase - it had been in the shop a lot - mostly for electronics. Thought most of its first year of model problems would be fixed after all those visits. It took me 6 more months of taking it in for one thing or another - again, all electronics - but (I'm holding my breath), the car has 54K miles on it, and it has been doing great for the past year! Mechanically it is wonderful. Half of the stuff was a problem because the dealer screwed something up, didn't know how to fix it, or told me it was an option that wasn't on my car (in each instance, it was on my car as standard equipment - and by talking directly to the techs or reading the forums, I got eveything to work).

I must admit to frustration at frequent returns to the dealer for the same thing. But I have never regretted the purchase.

Well, keep your "seatbelt buckled" as you may not be out of the danger zone yet with your "2000". Mine ran great as long as it wasn't in the shop, and believe me it was in the shop plenty! Around 50k I had already replaced the comand center a few times and I was already heading for my SECOND suspension failure. Not only was it a first year" car, but it was dealt with by technicians who had never seen this level of mechanical problems. I wish you the best of luck !

Hey DMI good choice I guess its common sense but everyone has their own opinions. I hope you didn’t go for the 00 S considering it has many technical issues.
