Short wheel base -or- Long

hey guys,

if you had a choice when purchasing your S class
would you have chosen the shorter wheel base
version if you had the opportunity?

Honestly it depends. LWB if it were for my dad, and I guess LWB if it were for me, because I'd give it to my dad...

Depends

as the standard in the US seems to be LWB but here in the UK it seems to be Standard WB with the LWB's being used in the City for chauffers etc..

I would say 75%+ of W220 S-Classes for sale (Not new) are SWB.

Besides, LWB would never fit in my garage....

Standard size would be my preference.

LWB W220 is the only option in the US.

BTW, could anyone give me links to see SWB pics?

Years ago I had a 95 S320 LWB when MB still had the S320 available in SWB. It drove me crazy when people kept asking me if my car was the "big Mercedes". I'd say yes, and they would then say isn't the "big Benz" the "500" ? The moral of the story is You can never drive an S-Class Mercedes with a low number or a short wheelbase. (Obviously this doesn't apply to our European members)

DMI+RY - Mercedes Benz of Canada has the S430 avilable in swb.

Mercedes all the way!
i'd always go for LWB -- somehow it just feels "proper" that an S-class should be the biggest thing around :p but if i get the Brabus models... that'll b another story... [edit: as i understand it they are all SWB?]

SWB for sure. All the SWB versions in this class (A8, 745i, SWB S) look more proper and proportional. The LWB with the stretched rear windows just look odd.

(BTW, I'd get SWB because I'd want to mod the car and drive it myself.)

Question

So... Again...

DOES ANYONE has any links to see how SWB W220 looks like?
I've been in Germany/Italy last summer but didn't pay attention to that matter and now I'd really love to see the visual difference between LWB and SWB.
Anyone has any links?

hey guys,

unfortunately in the USA you don't get the choice of swb or long...
you just get the long version. i myself have never seen a photo of
a swb S class. it would be interesting to see one.

LWB all the way! There is just so much more room. I had a Cadillac DHS before S430 and it was actually smaller inside although overall length was longer ! There is so much more you can do in the back !
