Driving up route 1 this evening had an 2007 S-class drive right past me and after realizing floored it in my ML (lucky for him the SL was in the garage at home)...drove up next to him turns out to be a asian guy and his wife. I stayed with him for a while as he tried to lose me on the road...I saw that the number plates weren't normal ones and had something like "vehicle MRG" or somthin writen at the bottom of it instead of the usual "garden state"...and there was no mecerdes emblem on the trunk lid nor any "S500" or w/e model put on it and it had either verrrrrry dirty wheels or they were just black...my guess is its an engineer or a VP at mercedes testing out the car before the release. sorry guys i wasnt able to take a shot of it

The one question I have for all of you is, when the 2007 S-class comes out this december-january is it going to have the new engine hence --> S550 or will it still have the old V8 and be a good old S500

No it will have the new engine. In other countries they are keeping the S500 name and for the USA they are using S550. The engine will be the same 5.5 Liter V8 DOHC 4valve per cynlinder design with Variable Valve timing.

You still get j/k Can't wait to see it in the flesh. The dealer promised to call as soon as they get one in. Now if I can talk my 81 yr old grandfather(turns 82 tomorrow) to trade his S500 in. We'll see.

was it silver? i saw it in elizabeth in the summer...look around i enclosed pics

btw i spotted another one (navy) in nyc but it said s500 how weird maybe it has the old engine?

This one was black maybe dark dark blue...but most likely black
