He also told me that they were regular S600 in the beginning and they mounted the AMG kit ( the 65 AMG kit ) afterwards.

Could this be possible ?

I know , S600 with Amg body is different than this two.
I have another question for you Jack (but you can answer me in private if you want), why do all US S-class W221 have that orange signal light on the front bumper ?

interesting

The white one is not clear enough to tell, but the black one is an S600 as it does have the bigger brakes of the S600 but not the really big ones (twin looking calipers) of the new S65.

They did add the bi-turbo to their already existing V12 badge. Though whether this is "wrong" is debatable as the 600 V12 is a bi-turbo engine or twin turbo to those not in the know. So is it really wrong to put the badge that tells it as it is???

Then of course since they are in Europe they just went to AMG and bought all the S65 bumpers and exhausts to complete the look.

Government regulations...someone decided this should be orange for saftey sake. The amber turn signal bulb is in the light complex near the upper exteior corner...this is just a running light and I would like to change it someday. Detracts from the car for sure.

I spotted a new 2007 Black S65 on the way to work today on 91 E near Corona. It was in the number 1 lane (HOV lane) and I was to the right in the #2 lane. It had Fletcher Jones Motorcars plates. As I neared it, I saw the huge front brake caliper (looks almost like double silver calipers) and V12 biturbo badge. I said "Whoa! Nice car." I think he saw my 6 piston Brabus brakes and bodykit, then he must have seen the C320 badge and said WTF was that? There was a older couple inside, going a conservative 78mph. I was driving rather unconservatively when I passed him.

Smile Finally

Hi everyone. My first post.
Picking up my new S550 with AMG package tomorrow. Trading in 2001 S55.
It will be interesting to see if there is any difference in acceleration and torque.
This site seems to be a great resourse with a lot of nice people.
Roman.

Welcome romanv! Congrats on the new S550 and will be looking forward to some pics. It will be interesting to see how you find the new S against your old S55...I think you will be pleasantly surprised...:-)

Bentley Continental GT 2004
Got around to changing the hideous seven spoke wheels that are standard issue with six cylinder cars to original MB 19" multispoke items.

The fronts are 19"x8.5" and run 255/40/19 tyres, the rear are 19"x9.5" and run 275/40/19s. I am using Pirelli PZero rosso tyres which are relatively quiet and not too harsh.

Not long after the Bentley was treated to some new wheels too, these are OEM 2 piece wheels. As the car is 4wd the front and back are the same size, 275/40/19.

that took a long time to get registered. i guess mbworld and comcast dont get along...anyways....

i am looking for some pictures on some specific things.

1) the simplicity of using the start/stop button like taking off the actual button etc

2) the ambient lighting system - how it looks (the more shots the better)

thanks for your help,

Here is the ambient lighting system. The button just pops out if you want to use the key in the normal manner.

Hey Jack

My car doesnt brighten to THAT degree, and its set to level 5.... it seems a lot duller than yours... is that due to some adjustment in ur garage lighting? Photoshop effect to intensify the picture??
