The glovebox cover flexed when I handled it and the door bins were unlined hard plastic of the lowest quality, I think that says enough. Eeech, the thought saddens me how badly Mercedes lost the plot then, but so far they seem to be back on track.

This is our 5th S class. We've had '86 560SEL, '90 560SEL, '97 S500, '01 S600 and our new '07 S600.
All were tank-like cept for the W220.
Actually, my mother prefers the softer accelerator pedal of the W220 than her new W221. The new one is harder to press.

That seems the to be the consensous here about the W220. It was a very pretty, technically advanced car, but the build wasn't there.
