S550 on super sweet sixteen

Your posting was interpreted as an "I'm better than you because I have a more expensive, more powerful car". Was it your intention to flaunt unabashedly, or do you plan to followup with a more mature approach?
No one human being is greater than another.

If I (we) didn't know how to appreciate a car or the value of it, why are we on these boards, showing our enthusiasm about it?

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I'm sixteen. I drive my mother's S430. I drive it as my only transportation to get around until I get my own car. And as soon as I make enough, I'm going to tint the windows so no one can see me. I don't feel right in it, and I think it's a shame young kids are driving nice cars (unless they earned it themselves).
My parents thought me strict discipline, just look at the way I see the whole matter. Let's get real, kids should start off with cheap, used cars, not a near six digit luxo mobile.

If anyone wants a free S430, drop by.

But yeah....

Let me offer you a word of advice. Drive the Mercedes and enjoy it, regardless of what stereotype "other" people place you in. Honestly, **** them. Don't be ashamed of yourself. The car is there for you to enjoy, so take advantage of the opportunity.
HLG
I'm 16 and got my licence at the start of this year. The car I drive is my parents E240. Like newton22, I drive a 3-pointed car to school (with mother in the passenger seat because its law for Learners) as there is no other car in the family that I can use to get to school. My dad allows me to drive it because like HLG600, he knows I love cars and I have huge respect for it.
I gotta admit, I'm getting bored of seeing peoples faces when they see a Learners plate on a $100K plus car. But quite frankly, I don't care anymore. Once I'm off my learners licence and can drive by myself, I will no longer be driving the Mercedes, instead I will be part contributing towards a simple yet safe Toyota Yaris (new) which will actually be a decent first car TBH and I will be very gratefull for it.
I will badly miss driving the fantastic E240 Avantgarde, using the tiptronic and letting it rev high in Sport mode and feeling the wind in my hair from the Panoramic sunroof. But hell, the cars not mine and I personally don't approve of the image of youth like myself driving, let alone OWNING cars like an E240 and definately NOT an S550.
I cannot believe there is someone in the world who is roughly my age who feels comfortable driving a S550. Yes its a comfy car but I couldn't live with the image that radiates from it all. I would love nothing more than to enjoy driving it once on a special occation but I couldn't drive it on a daily basis.
Its just wrong.
Maybe theres something wrong with me. Most people my age love pimped up Japanese imports. Trust me, there is nothing I hate more than those cheap things with bolt on bodykits, HUGE turbos and bloody big sound speakers. I can't force myself to love those God awefull things. I know what I want...like now...a Mercedes Benz.
Back to your post - "its a complete waste of youth" - You may have a point there in that I can discuss these cars all I want but the reality is that I won't own one for a long time yet. But I still love discussing these cars because I'm interested in them, I respect them and I want them.

For the record I would never, ever, ever get my kid a car even close to that caliber no matter how much dough I had....that kind of instant gratification is sometimes quite stunting towards an adolescent's growth process.
