I just came back from the MB dealership here in Miami Florida and I am truly dissapointed. I went, ready to order my mystic white designo and have been told that for the 2008 s550 this designo option is not available anymore and will never be again. The sales person claimed that they were having to many problems with the paint so they discountinued it, man I am really disapointed about this I should have gonne a long time ago. They said that if you do want the mystic white designo package you have to order either a S63 s65 or s600 and those are pretty expensive. I ran the numbers on a s65 (the cheaper of the three) with the mystic white package and some other simple options and the car was coming up to $146,000, definetely more than what I wanted to spend. I dont even feel like ordering an S anymore because I was really into just that package.

The orders locally back here for 2008 Mystic White are already more than what had been ordered in the first six months of 2007! I asked my dealer manager friend about your strange case and he told possibly! However, while laughing he said but it could also be an old trick to move slow moving cars like S63 and S65. It is a fact that although S63 and S65 sales are good they don't even come close to 15% in comparison to S350 and S500 sales (local statistics) and there is no better choice to move these numbers up but a selection of exclusive paint!

I remember when the Range Rover Sport was introduced here, the dealer was selling a special color Range Rover Sport for $ 19,000 more (only color difference). It changed the color from undesirable to waiting list!!! Almost a year after I myself was in London and visited the dealer and he confirmed that there is no such a thing as special color and he showed me the catalog which contains all the colors including the special one as claimed back home with no special star and what is more important with no special price difference. All colors costs were identical. What can I say ?! Thank God I did not go for it.

I know this doesn't answer you, but liked to share my experience with you it might help. Why don't you check with other dealers in different states without telling them what you dealer said just to find out how truthful he is. What applies to florida shall apply to all States in Whole, it is only a color option!

Didn't you mean the S63 is the cheaper of the three (as if the word cheap can even be used on this forum)????? The S65 is the most expensive of the three.

I don't either, basically. My salesman told me that M-B has the production capability to produce one Mystic White S-Class per day, for worldwide availability. If he is correct, then it would make sense that instead of increasing their capacity, they cut availability. Their problem is not with the paint itself, but rather with the ability to paint all the cars that customers have ordered.

Continuing with the sad story that day... Since I kept nagging her, the sales person called the so called "specialist" who is in charge of ordering all the cars for that MB dealership to tell me the problems with ordering mystic white. The specailist did tell me there was a problem with the paint, basically it was the lack of production capability. She mentioned that there was only one person she had seen with that car and that they had huge problems with it. When he was ordering the mystic white, the guy was told that his car would take about 3 to 4 months to arrive. Well it took 9 months and the guy was suing Mercedes and caused many other problems. So she said MB decided to only offer that package with the more expensive lines. But I will try and contact other dealerships and see what they say.

On another note.. Im still in hunt for another car and yesterday I went by to look at a BMW 750li and its just not the same. I was getting a really good deal on it but i decided not to get it. Before the 750 was my favorite car but now its just not the same anymore. I leaning towards the Rang Rover Sport, so Obaidan, how did you like your RRS?

Man, I still want that S-class in mystic white though...

No I did not go for it (you missed it up there) because of two reasons. The first reason was that the price for fully loaded with special color was around $106,000. I love this car because of its presence and luxury sensation but for an SUV getting close in price to the Mercedes S-Class! If you ask anyone (I mean it anyone) here back home if money is not an issue which car would you choose the RRS or S the answer will always be the Mercedes. The second reason was that the interior was very tight in my terms and I didn't like the feeling of being squeezed that much in it as opposed to the spacious regular super charged Range Rover.

If price is right and both luxury and practicality where you don't have to worry about bumps, road mini stones, flood, etc. are your objectives then the RRS is for you. I don't know about States but over here you can order the Mystic White equivalent color for the RRS as well, I saw it on streets and it is like magic.

Actually the BMW 7-series is amazing. Before I bought my S, it was on my list to check. My brother has the fully loaded 740. The interior is amazing and I see it close to the RRS in the way there are many buttons over here and there. Too much I know but keeps giving you the feeling of being in a classic (i.e. Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, etc). There was nothing I disliked about it but what made me not go for it is that it has a very short life namely around 2 years until the next model is out so for value for money It didn't measure up (in my opinion of course). The resale value for a BMW locally here is terrible as well.

As for the waiting period to receive the Mystic White, your dealer is 100% right. Over here it takes 2 months starting with ordering the car until you finally receive it. For a Designo you add to the 2 months another 3 months for a total of 5 months waiting period! That is a lot to the majority and this is why it is not too popular because by the time you get it the ordering process for next year cars starts! In my personal experience, the color difference between the Mystic White and the Alabaster White is only HUGELY obvious at night where it really shines (but identically so is the RRS). In the morning the two colors are almost on par and as per many feedbacks I got the majority favor the Alabaster White but everything changes at night!

Don't wait anymore trust me if you can't get the Mystic White go for any other color. It is amazing how this model makes every color beautiful on it. Just make sure you get it with the right looking and large original wheels as they make all the differences. The minute you are behind the wheel all the exterior colors are the same. I've been with many friends and most of them have the black and we get the same attention from public. It is the car! Make yourself a favor and go get it now you will regret everyday you waited without it. How do I know? It took me 9 months of research and going to all the Mercedes local dealers before I ordered!

Thank you for all your insightfull info and advice. I contacted this other dealership about the mystic white. It seems like this new guy is a little more serious about his job and has been doing everything he can to get me that mystic white. He said he is calling their main office in New Jersey to see if there is anything they can do to get me the mystic white and they were suppose to send him a memo today regarding that.

The only reason I was really considering the BMW 750li was beacuse it had all the upgrades and options possible. It was going for $96,000 and he was giving it to me for paymnets of $76,000 car, but the car doesnt really wow me anymore. The Land Rover dealership were offering me a new 2007 black on black RRS with all the options and also 22" rims for $64,000 which is not bad at all because they just wanted to get rid of their 07's. But when I went back on saturday they had just sold, so now if i really want one I will have to get a 2008 and pay full price.

But I will take your advice and go for that S-class, its just in a different level than other cars out there. I would have liked to get a black on black S but my friend has one already and my other friend has a silver one, so my only other options is white. But from what I've seen the white S shows its lines and grooves better so if I cant get the mystic white I would just get the alabaster white.

Finally the MB salesman was able to get me the mystic white option. The only thing is that I have to order it seperately because it doesnt come as a package anymore. It runs ike $3000 more but at least I will be getting what I want, SO i should be going there on Saturday to put the order.

I really wish I had waited and gotten a mystic white exterior with a light grey interior. I feel this car looks its best in white. Even the regular arctic white is great. Black (which I have) looks great but it is hard to keep clean, shows every fingerprint, but the white makes the car look even larger.
Congrats to you guys who have this car in white.

Black looks bigger in the morning while white seems bigger at night. The black S looks amazing under light rain where the white one is simply dirty. If I gurantee my wife says nothing about it, I would have gone for both. One for morning and one for night

I just got back from my local dealer here in kuwait and he had a S350 L in Designo Mystic White 2, its an updated designo mystic white hence the 2 designation it litterally just arrived here today, and the Interior is savanna beige with panoramic roof AMG styling package with 19 rims. i booked it as soon as i saw it, i take delivery sometime next week. i will post pics as soon as i get a chance
