s500 engine noise

Hi everyone!

Just a question to those who are mechanically minded. On the new w221 V8, in addition to the engine noise there is also a higher pitched whine...audible just above the engine idling noise...any idea what this is from...my guess was one of the hydraulic pumps???

Thanks

I don't hear that noise but I also have a hi-freq hearing loss so that may be the reason?

This whine should only be for the first 30 seconds or so after starting... it is the air injection pump.

Thanks Kar Don, but this is different to the whine you refer to...its hard to describe but its just (barely) audible above the negine idling noise...appears to be emitted from the right front area of the engine bay....just curious what part its coming from???? Any ideas?
