Trunk Closer - Standard?
Is the trunk closer now considered as standard equip.
It used to be an option but for couple hundred bucks... forgot how much exactly... but it is no longer an option when building you own. I called the dealer and he thinks it comes standard now but is not sure.
Anyone know for sure?
thanks

I hope it is standard, after years of not putting that function on standard on an 86,000+ dollar car I believe that it is the appropriate time to begin.

Electonic trunk closer is not a standard option. When I ordered my S550 in april, it was not available due to short supply and was told would have to wait 4weeks for the option to be available again so I opted to not get the trunk closer so I could get my car a month earlier which by the way was delivered on 7/19 and oh yea, I LOVE IT!!

It is option #881 and the cost is $500. MBUSA has indeed omitted this option on their build your own page.

You are talking about 2 different things. Trunk closing is similar to the door closing - it just closes the last bit. The electronic trunk closer, which is optional everywhere, is an option in the USA (std S600) and also the models sold in Europe. Comparing the US to the ECE models, you will find the standard equipment level on te USA car to typically be much higher. Examples include door closing assist, 6 dvd changer, ambient lighting, HK sound, phone and voice control, IR glass among other things.

...and for what it's worth, having that trunk button rocks! Can't tell you how many times I've had my arms full of stuff, but all I have to do is recruit a finger to push the button. The trunk closes, the car locks, the mirrors fold in. Niiiice.
Oh, and I almost forgot. On the driver door, there's a button to both open and close the trunk. NiiiIIIiiiice.....
Definitely good for a few ego points, too.
