2008 S-Class review
Mercedes will launch the 2008 S-Class at NAIAS, Detroit, in 2007. The new ~$80K cabriolet will be built mainly following comfort, rather than performance.
You can read an exclusive review on it on topspeed, with info about the features, mercedes' plans, as well as some of the S-Class history and the competition the 2008 model will have to face. Available is also a high-res photo gallery.

Very weird article. It mixes S-class and Chrysler cabriolet plans (two of those pix are Chrysler). It reads like a badly translated German blog. Starting at $80,000? For an S-class cabriolet? I wouldn't hold your breath.

If they made a cabrio version of the S, it would ruin the image, IMO. I find it tacky for any large sedan to have a cabrio. They should make a hardtop convertible for the CL, if they want it S-based. But, why do they when you have the beautiful SL?

I'm confused...is it a aftermarket by ACS or an actual Merc Model??
I don't think it would be that bad if had the CLK hidden top and retained most of the space of the regular S. It would be competing against the Bently and Rolls no?

Mercedes is not going to build a 4-door cabriolet version of the S-Class, not gonna happen. What they may do it build a CL Cabrio or some new Maybach derivative, but a S550 Cabriolet, not gonna happen.
