Service Campaign 2007010004 MAR07 – Vehicles engine running characteristics can be improved with the installation of a modified intake manifold. Dealers will check the production date of the intake manifold and replace if necessary. Additionally updated engine control module software will also be installed.
Service Campaign 2007020003 MAR07 – It is possible that the connection of the coolant line to the engine may not meet specifications. Under extremely high engine operating temperatures this may lead to long term coolant system overheating. Dealers will check the coolant line and replace it as a preventative measure. BTW owners should have received a letter from MBUSA for this.
Service Campaign 2007030002 APR07 – The electrohydraulic control module pilot bushing may have been installed with a seal ring that does not meet specifications. This may cause a small transmission oil leak to occur. Dealer will replace the bushing. A letter was also sent out for this campaign.
Call your dealer and have them check VMI to determine if your vehicle is involved in these campaigns.

What a wonderful thread and what a service KOnigstiger is providing. How do you get all this info?
To my real question: - I have a Dec 2005 S320cdi 220 series. Have done 26,000 miles with no problems at all and love the car. From time to time get a hankering for the 221 series -usually after seeing some of Nevada Jacks photos. But wondered how has the 221 series been reported by J.D Power and by CR? I gather the 220 series was not kindly reported (though mine has been faultless). Have there been any independent surveys yet of the 221 series as regards reliability?

Does that sound right or did he really mean intake?

In accordance to Service Campaign 2007010004 MAR07 if the manifold production date is up to and including 9/30/05 it will need to be replaced. Between (and including) 10/1/05 and 2/28/06 the engine control module software will need to be updated.

I would question the SA as to what he meant. There may be a bulletin that I am not aware of yet.

Hi Jack, hope all is well. Sorry, every now and I post a multiple model bulletin on the W211 forum and forget to also post it here if applicable. It would be best in the future to also check there.

Some kid racing into a Starbucks hit me in May 06 (several months into the lease). Long story short I’m waiting for a diminished value settlement to see where I stand. Depending on the settlement amount I will either have someone acquire the lease and move on or, wait out the lease till it ends 10/08.

Just got my car back after the A service @ 13K. There is no such Navigation update update available. When I turned the car in the service rep went on-line with Net-star and checked for any recalls/update for my VIN and nothing came up. I told him many streets are not in my Nav, so re-installed the CDRom.
I was surprised the A service was only $210 including parts! i am used to paying $300-400 per service or more.

I checked with parts and the SA and there is no new Navi DVD for the S550 as yet. I took delivery in April '06 and hopefully when the '08 models hit the streets the updated DVD will be available for purchase. It would be nice if it also did some updating of the software with new features.

I thought you were referring to any available navigation software update which seems to have been answered. If you were questioning the Service Campaign info given to Jack and if it applies to the UK I would assume yes however, do not know for certain. If you want a copy to discuss the matter with them PM your email address and I will forward a PDF.

Unfortunately no, I do not know of any sources available in the UK. I would suggest befriending the personnel who service your vehicle, most especially the shop foreman.

DTB P-B-82.35/587 JUN07 Low washer fluid level warning appearing in the MFD but washer fluid reservoir is full this may be due to the mixture of the washer fluid in the reservoir. All connectors and harnesses will be inspected, and existing fluid will be replaced with recommended mixing ratio.
P-B-88.85/67 JUL07 Roof drip rails are loose in the center or towards the rear and may protrude above the roof paneling, the rubber clips which retain the drip rail will need to be replaced.
P-B-07.61/71 JUL07 Check Engine light is illuminated and the radiator fan runs constantly this fault may occur when the engine is at operating temperature and is then switched off and restarted immediately. The temperature sensor will be checked with DAS. Note you should always wait longer than two seconds prior to restarting the vehicle.
P-B-72.10/83 JUL07 Creaking noises when opening/closing the armrest lid on the front doors, this may be due to insufficient lubrication of the hinge. The hinge will be lubricated where it comes in contact with the leather.
P-B-46.10/59 JUL07 Squeaking/grunting noises coming from the area of the firewall boot while steering the cause may be that the upper or lower support ring of the rubber boot is too smooth. When the boot is too smooth, at high temperatures static friction may occur between the seal ring and the boot which may cause the slight squeaking noises. Support ring and firewall boot will be cleaned and coated with special grease.

Service Campaign 2007080001 AUG07 Malfunctions may occur in the dynamic/multi-contour seat modules, which may result in inflation or deflation of the air cushions without cause. Dealers will update the control module software for the dynamic/multi-contour seats. Approximately 3,205 vehicles are affected.

Service Campaign 2007080004 SEPT07 Possible malfunctions in the multi-contour seat modules may result in inflation or deflation of the air cushions without obvious cause. Dealer will update the control module software and replace parts if need be. Approximately 15 vehicles affected.
P-B-32.22/49 SEPT07 Airmatic inoperative “Visit Workshop” displayed in IC. The cause may be that the compressor’s harness chafed on the retaining plate or on the body panels in the area of the right front headlamp thus causing a short circuit and blowing the fuse. Dealer will replace fuse, and repair/reposition harness.
P-B-72.00/85 SEPT07 Outside door handle to any door sticks in pulled position. The handle may be contacting the door skin therefore, handle will be beveled or replaced as needed.
P-B-32.22/54 SEPT07 Suspension extremely stiff (more stiff then when vehicle is in Sport mode) after restart and level switch is nonfunctional up to VIN A012191, the internal computer of the control unit may hang up causing the control unit to remain in passive mode - software will be updated.
P-B-83.25/107 OCT07 HVAC blower delayed operation on start-up however, may start running after driving on a rough road surface. The blower motor will be replaced.

P-B-43.10/04 OCT07 Whistling/clicking/thudding from the driver footwell area when driving in Distronic or Speedtronic (cruise control) mode, the cause may be due to noises coming from the Brake Assist System (BAS) activation of the solenoid valve in the brake booster. The software for the ABR control unit will be updated to prevent the solenoid from vibrating.
P-B-42.20/81 OCT07 parking brake cannot be operated via the parking brake switch and either of the following fault messages display in the IC: “Parking Brake – See Operator’s Manual” or “Parking Brake Nonfunctional – Visit Workshop” the brake switch will be replaced.
