2007 S65 AMG 20" Wheels??
JUST IN CASE I MIGHT want to switch up to the 20" AMG Wheels....
a) Where can i find them.... (not sure if i should ever go through my dealer in ny.... no problem with them, but there WILL be a premium price to go through them...) Anyone know of any places ? prices?
b) What tires are the finest? Michelin Pilot Sport PS2............ I checked on Tirerack....i would need 275/35/ZR20 for the back and 255/35/ZR20..... They only have the backs, not the fronts.........
Anyone have ANY ideas for the above?
Thanks!

Chucky,
One of my neighbors has an 07 S65 coming very shortly. I am pretty sure he will get different wheels/tires but the only issue is that they would be down here in Orlando and the freight may be expensive to NY.

Curious to know what he would charge for them. Could you find out for me?

o kool. take ur time - no rush.
Do you think the 20s look better on the s550 ? Now a few friends are saying they look a bit plain.
Dont know what to think. I personally like them better, so ultimately i would do what i want.
Will the 20s give me a poor ride though?

I think they look fairly similar to the 19's you currently have. In terms of the ride, it may be a tad rougher but I doubt it would even be noticeable.

yea i would think the s65 20"s dont look much different, but i love the classic 5 spoke design over the newer wheels that look too busy for me. The 5 spoke design shows off the calipers and should be lighter too.
there is a pair on ebay fpr about $4900 that was also posted here for a day, but he removed his post....dont know why...;-)

$4900 for 4 wheels ? Did they have tires on them ? That would make it like 1200 a wheel? Thats a bit high priced. no?

sry....$4500 wheels and tires. I didnt imply you bought them....i think what happened was that he posted them here for the same price as on ebay, and i flamed him for not showing us any love compared to ebay buyers.

$4500 for wheels and tires are much better! depending on the tire, that might be a very good deal because some can be like $380 a tire....

IMO it is not worth it...19 to 20 isnt worth that dough especially since your 19's are one of my favorite designed AMG rims on the new S. If you were going 22 inch, that would be a different story... I would probably go 22, but thats just me...!

make him an offer.....ya never know. They are definitley overpriced and that is what i kinda told him/her when it was posted here....i think that is why it was removed so quickly. Id pay $3000-3500 for those wheels/tires.

I would think $4-5k is the going rate for a set of those rims. A buddy of mine has an SL55 and wanted to get the SL65 19" rims but it probably would have cost him at least $4k, so he decided not to.
The other thing to keep in mind is that you could sell your current rims/tires, which will offset the cost of the 20s.
EDIT: I wouldn't worry about the ride harshness as much as the higher risk of bending a rim from a pothole or something with 20s. Just another thing to keep in mind.

The SL65 wheels are much more detailed than the W221 S65. All the screws around it, the double spokes, its just all and all a much more detailed and expensive wheel than the S65 which is just a plain 5 spoke design. Only difference is 20" vs 19".
I think $3000 is probably what the set is worth.

Let me know if you want to sell yours...

when you say good enough - does that mean GOOD...PERIOD...... or "as good as can be expected from a 20" wheel" because while i want SPORTING attitude from the car, and the drive, i definetly do NOT want an uncomfortable ride.

Before you do it, make sure you check the tech. specs in the manual. I don't know about the W221, but the W220 S65 has different geometry from all the other W220 LWB sedans. For example, the S55 and S65 rear wheels are the same size (9 1/2 Jx 19 H2), but the offsets are 46 and 60 mm respectively. I also note that front and rear track of the S65 is 4mm wider than the S500, S600 or S55.
If there are similar differences on the 221, S65 wheels may not work very well on other models.

On the highway you'll notice more rolling noises, atleast I did. But apart from that you'll hardly notice a diff with the 19inch ones on comfort.

Will keep my eyes open - I really like the larger wheels on this car - especially with the large fender flares.
